D26: Munich
Today was a fun day despite a rocky start. I missed my yoga class by a few minutes because I didn't get off on the right subway stop, which I blame on getting over cocky with European transportation and thinking I could remember the stop I needed to get off on despite it being in German (and I didn’t have coffee yet). I then decided to go to a brunch spot recommended as one of the best in the city… but upon arriving, they were closed for at least another hour. Sigh.
I rallied from these back-to-back disappointments by finding wifi in a grocery store and booking a bike tour of Munich, and once I got that settled, discovered a beautiful coffee spot overlooking the main square that overlooked a clock tower where at the top of the hour, there is a machine powered puppet show of sorts that depicts a royal wedding, a jousting tournament, and a dance routine by larger than life figurines.
The bike tour began shortly after and it felt incredible to be back on a bike. The weather was perfect for it as well - sunny and in the mid 70s. Munich has an excellent outdoor community and there were so many people out and about either riding bikes, enjoying their public parks, or drinking beer at the outdoor beer gardens. Their city park even features a man-made wave people were surfing on. The bike tour included a stop at a beer garden. A liter of beer was just a few dollars so I left that particular stop feeling pretty good. During the bike tour, I was the "rear guard" responsible for making sure no one was left behind. As a reward, I was gifted this frisbee…. hahaha
After the bike tour, I met up with Isaac, who I met on the bike tour, and we went out for a few drinks. It was a chill but really enjoyable night.
