D25: Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland
I woke up sore from the hike yesterday and with my train leaving for Munich in the evening, I kept today chill by going to a town, Lauterbrunnen, to do a chill, mostly paved hiked through "the valley of seventy-seven waterfalls". It was a beautiful valley, although since it was late in the season the waterfalls were weak sauce. I hadn't journaled the prior day so I made a commitment I would stop at every bench I saw along the path to journal for five minutes at each spot. Turns out, this community takes their benches seriously. I took a lot of breaks and by the end, I had to abandon this goal in order to make it back to the train station in time for my train back to Interlaken.
My highlight of the day was this series of ten waterfalls that traveled inside of the mountain and was made public by some clever cave building. You could walk to the top area of the falls and then head back down following the flow of the water through the mountain. It was unique compared to any other waterfall I've seen.
The beginning of the train ride from Interlaken to Munich was beautiful because it was during Golden Hour which only elevated the beautiful mountain scenery and the changing colors of the leaves in the country side. I turned off my Netflix to watch in peace. I arrived in Munich around 8pm where I'll spend a day before heading to Austria. Munich wasn't a city on my original list of places I wanted to see, but it just made sense to stop there.
