Day 52: A Dream Realized

This morning I saw a bobcat! One of the coolest wildlife encounters I’ve experienced yet. It ran across in front of me on the trail maybe 20-30 feet.

The trail was mostly snow free until we reached the section of trail shared with the Tahoe Rim Trail. I’d hiked the TRT back in 2018. It was on that hike when it joined with the PCT that I swore to myself I’d be back as a PCT thru-hiker; it felt surreal to now have realized that dream.

We covered 30 miles by 5ish to the highway where Sandman and I would attempt to hitch a ride about 20 miles into South Lake Tahoe for a resupply. We got a ride from a former 2013 PCT hiker, Horny Toad, who took us to the Days Inn where we planned to stay the next two nights.

We got burgers at a local join and then purchased a BOGO quart of ice cream for each of us to eat. The ice cream didn’t stand a chance.
