D20: Cinque Terre
My train departed for Cinque Terre, a collection of five villages located on the coast in the northwest corner of Italy. This place wasn’t on my radar until my friend back home, Adam James, recommended it for its amazing hike, and I was craving a day in nature spent moving my body. The plan was to get there early, catch another train to where'd I start my hike, and then hike back to the main train station by nightfall where I'd get on yet another train to journey to Milan.
The start of the day went off swimmingly. The main trail was closed but I was able to find a beautiful alternative, and ohhh how I missed hiking and the mindset it puts me in. I truly was having the best time linking up trails to hike to each of the five villages. In total, the trails would total up to around 15 miles…. But after reaching three towns and hiking eight miles, I was tuckered out and didn't feel like hiking anymore so instead I hopped back on the train to the first town and laid out by the beach soaking up the sun. It was such a good audible for the day and a continued lesson of going with the flow. After a awhile at the beach, I wanted to see if I could catch a beautiful sunset so I hopped back on the train to the place rumored to have the best sunset in Cinque Terre. It didn't disappoint either.
I made it back to the main station with a few minutes to spare and head off to Milan. I'd be arriving in the city shortly before midnight. A fully day of traveling!
