D29: Spa in Pest
Fun fact: “Budapest” is really two cities with “Buda” on one side of the river and “Pest” on the other. I slept in this morning recovering from a night out of dancing and fun and began my day slowly by putting more plans to my remaining time in Europe. Looking back, it is a little ironic that in the time of my trip where I was most going with the flow, I spent this day putting significant plans in place including a flight from Amsterdam to Greece. Seeing I was in Budapest (south) and Amsterdam (north) is quite a distance away, it gave me a goal and a specific date to work towards.
Budapest is known for their spas and spending a day at the spa seemed like an excellent way to recover. Kaylie and I headed to one of the more well-known ones and spent four hours hanging out in the hot baths. It was a great way to spend the day. Hungary had a national holiday coming up and when we left the spa to walk back to the hostel, there was a huge parade and demonstration with tens of thousands of people out in the street.
Budapest is an incredibly cheap place to visit too. A dinner at a nice place around the corner from the hostel was around $4.50 for a full meal and drink. Gotta love that.
My sketch of an outline. The green shows all of the travel I’d booked a train or plane for and would need to be at those places.
