Day 18: Zero Day

Rest days in the hiking world are called ‘Zero Days’ and this is my first of the trek. I didn’t plan any into my initial plan thinking I would just take them as the opportunity arises. The goal of the day is to eat a lot of food and stay off my feet as much as possible.

With the exception of the short walk I made to the library and a gift shop, mission accomplished. My grocery store run the prior day racked up to $55, and I wasted no time in eating the food: ice cream, strawberries, salad, waffles, peanut butter, bananas, chips and salsa, and 3 chicken breasts.

I finished the first season of Ted Lasso in the afternoon and connected with more friends back home. A friend, Parker, is meeting me to go through the first section of the Sierras so we walked through the plan together.

I finished the night with a FaceTime with my brother, and a virtual date with my girlfriend, Kylee.

As an aside, my charger has two USB charging ports but one stopped working. I ordered a replacement to the Airbnb since it was one day delivery. Well, Amazon messed up the delivery and it wasn’t delivered in one day. It is going to make tomorrow interesting as I originally planned to leave early in the morning. Now, I’ll be forced to wait until it’s delivered.
