Today was less eventful than the prior. I wanted to hike a longer mileage day to make the next 2 day approach to Kennedy Meadows, my next resupply, slightly more manageable.

There were no natural water sources leaving camp for 35 miles, but thankfully trail angels kept two caches of water well stocked making it an easier carry. At the second cache, a trail angel, Jim, set up and offered us cold drinks, PB sandwich’s, and shade, which had been lacking for the day. 

It was an excellent break before making a 2k climb followed by a more mellow elevation change to camp. 

The spring at camp provided a slow flow (about a liter every few minutes, but nevertheless it flowed. I was again able to bum the use of a stove from a fellow hiker in exchange for some chocolate. 

And as I’m typing the last words of my journal, I hear a scurrying near my bag. I flash a light and see a mouse rummaging around my stuff. It ran off only to return a few minutes later. I flashed it with the light for one last warning before rolling over to sleep. It better watch it!
