Day 100: Marmots!
Did you know granola could go stale? I didn’t either, but it made breakfast a little rough.
This morning was an absolute stunning view for most of it and water was literally everywhere. I saw at least 7 marmots and also learned that marmots make this screaming sound, which may or may not have scared the crap out of me (not literally) at least once.
We had an interesting river crossing that we made with dry feet by traversing a small, 3 inch in diameter log laid across the raging water.
I hit a brick wall of energy in the afternoon, but felt restored after a long break near the creek. We had a long climb up followed by a slog down hill that made the bones of my feet ache. I haven’t felt this physically tired since the two-pass days of the Sierras.
We arrived at camp a little after 8 to find more SOBOs. We arrived and they declared they had two more hikers coming, almost like they could call dibs on campsites for their friends. Uh, first come, first serve! Good thing there was enough sites for everyone.
