Day 108: Flip Down To Oregon
I received my resupply box at 5:30 am from guest services, packed it up, and hit the trail before 6am. Wow, Oregon is amazing terrain wise compared to Washington and I took full advantage of it. All miles except 1 were below 19 minutes, which meant I’d covered over 42 miles in 12 hours and 15 minutes. It felt good to move fast.
I’ve seen a lot of really amazing views, but this morning I saw the cutest thing of the entire trail. A grandpa and his young grandson were out backpacking. The little boy melted my heart with his oversized yellow backpack.
The temperature must’ve stayed in the low 60s all day making it a perfect hiking day, especially since I stayed in the shade of the trees for most of it. I barely broke a sweat and even had to wear my wind jacket for a lot of the day to stay warm.
I saw a total of 7-10 NOBOs making their way north to Canada although I learned the big bubble is about 2 weeks behind them. In the afternoon, I received some trail magic in the form of a roast beef sandwich, a Mt Dew, and a few cookies.
I camped with a NOBO, Snowfield, and chatted with him over dinner. It was nice to be social after being alone most of day since I left Sandman on the PNT.
