Day 72: Oregon!!

It was raining in the morning so I stayed in my tent for a few extra minutes to see if the rain would break. It did! For breakfast, I ate 6 donuts I’d packed out the day prior. It was fantastic, but at the same time I realized this is why I chose to mail boxes to myself vs buying on the trail -- past Brad is more health conscious than present-hiker-hunger Brad.

The skies cleared for a few hours in the morning which prompted us to stop at a water source to dry out the tents. Sandman made coffee and I started in on the Nutella jar -- I love Nutella. I can’t believe this was the first time I brought it with me on trail. When the Seiad Valley post office opened at noon, I called to get my food box sent ahead to Crater Lake, OR.

The big highlight of the day was finally finishing the state of the California and entering the state of Oregon! It is a big milestone.

Today was quintessential Oregon weather too. The clear skies went away and we spent the rest of the day hiking in a literal cloud. It didn’t rain though!

Our goal was to make it to a shelter to camp. Once there, we made a fire. Two section hikers, an uncle and his 11 yr old nephew, was there. They were hiking the state of Oregon. Pretty cool to be 11 and be out here.
