Day 34: Blowdowns

As I get further into the PCT, more hikers are doing bigger miles and waking up at a similar time. This morning it seemed like half the camp ground was up around 5:30. I took a wrong turn to start the morning adding an extra half mile to my day. Whoops.

It was 7 miles to the first water source of the day, which luckily turned into trail magic. A fella spent the last week camping and proving magic. Thanks to him, I didn’t have to filter water from the creek and also ate an orange.

Then we climbed and walked along a beautiful ridge line. It was here where I saw the horse riders of the PCT, which was created for both hikers and equestrians. They asked if there were any big fallen trees (or blowdowns) ahead and I said, “uhh uhh I don’t think so” although truthfully I didn’t know; the trail blends together some times. As they pass, I turn around to take a picture only to see the male rider in the front getting off his horse 10 feet down the trail. He yelled back to me, “Really?? No fallen trees. There is one right here!”. Shoot, guess I already forgot about that one. He asked if I wanted to help cut it out of the way. I didn’t and took off.

My legs were still tired today so the climbs were grueling this afternoon. But I kept grinding it out only to be rewarding with my favorite sunset of the trip.

Miles: 33.4

Total Miles: 891

Ps.. The mouse from the night b4 stayed out of my food :)
