Day 36: Misplaced Pants
It’s town chore time. I awoke early to claim the one laundry machine, only to find the power is off until they open at 8ish.
Grumpy Bear’s offers a ‘Hiker Breakfast’ with eggs, potatoes, sausage, and all-you-can-eat pancakes. The pancake they serve is like 5 normal size pancakes all-in-one.. making hard to eat more than one, but I suffered through to eat a pancake and a half.
I hung my clothes to dry after they came out the laundry and then went to the outfitters to replace my broken trekking poles and get some miscellaneous items to tackle the Sierras. Then, I went to sort out the 5 boxes mailed to me for my resupply. Some people remarked, “Christmas came early”. Looking at the boxes, I thought there was no way it would all fit in my pack... but sure enough, it did.
I came back to get my clothes only find to my pants were missing. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find them. Apparently there was a big wind gusts that blew clothes everywhere, so I assumed someone took my pants on accident. Two hours later, I look over and happen to look up in the tree -- there they were.. 9 feet up in the tree. Crazy!
The rest of the day is just chilling and enjoying my zero day.
Since I received warmer clothes in my resupply, it was time to retire my Patagonia Sun Hoodie I’ve had since my first thru-hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail in 2018. It’s been through some stuff.
