D4: Barce Wanderings
Our morning began with coffee. When I was last in Europe, I wasn’t a coffee drinker and didn’t realize how different the way Europeans consume caffeine is much different than I am used to. Drip coffee (the kind you probably think of when you think of coffee) is replaced by espresso shots and all of the variety of drinks that are Espresso drinks (like lattes, although also not the Starbucks variety. Pure latte. No sugar, unless you add it.) But I love it. The espresso is delicious.
After getting charged with coffee, we all went to a yoga class, which was interesting post yoga teacher training. It was difficult to turn off my brain from all of the new knowledge I learned during the last month in France. The class was advanced and a totally different style than my training, and honestly I struggled to let go; ironic because that is like the first principle of yoga.
We had lunch at Bohl, a brunch spot, where I enjoyed a Chunky Monkey acai bowl described by the bartender as like a reeses. Say less, I am sold! Damn, so bomb.
At the Airbnb, Allie decided to stay back to do some trip planning. Alex and Kylee would be flying home tomorrow, but she is still traveling around Europe for another month and a half. So, Alex, Kylee and I strolled around Barcelona where we ate wonderful shawarma, and met up with Allie to go to the Bunkers, old military bunkers set on top a high point near the city that provides a beautiful 360 degree view.
An infamous Spanish cuisine is paella, a rice dish mixed with mushrooms and either fish or meat. We opted for both by choosing the surf and turf. We topped off Kylee and Alex’s last night with Gelato, shooting the shit while they packed, and doing a group meditation before bed.
