D18: Florence, Italy

The bunk beds in the hostel were creaky and the others in the room moving throughout the night woke me a few times, but that was nothing compare to the noise I heard from the bunk across the room before I fell asleep. I won’t go into detail here, but you can use your imagination since it involved a dude, the bed creaky, and the swish-swish-swish of the covers moving. Yikes. I was tired though, and promptly fell asleep aided by my ear plugs.

I scheduled yoga again and headed to class at 9 am. After class, I strolled through the city's market where I picked up some fresh fruit to eat for breakfast to counteract the last few days of pastry overload in Venice.

Joslyn offered to take me to a cool coffee place so we met up like typical people from Florence, at the base of Duomo, while she gave me a pseudo tour of the town on the way to the coffee shop. After coffee, I toured the Uffizi Gallery, which housed an incredible collection of marble statues and renaissance paintings.

I went to Piazza Michelangelo, which is set up on top of the hillside overlooking the city, for sunset. It was stunning, & I even found 5 euros on the ground, which made my 14 euro wine only 9 euro.

I am really diggin’ the vibes of Florence, the town size is just right and there is excellent energy here. There are mountains in the distance and the coast is close. It is smaller than Barcelona but feels the same energy.
